In May 2020, VENenIn (Venezolanos en Inglaterra) approached me looking for a friendly mascot for their company, as well as to feature on their Instagram posts in order to guide and entertain the audience. VENenIn is a company that promotes services and provide information of interest for fellow Venezuelan people living in the United Kingdom.
For this I created Venenito. Venenito is a boy that had to be the overall character of a Venezuelan person: friendly, cheeky and charismatic; incorporating the London urban style, along with the company logo and our signature burgundy color as part of his outfit.
The timeline of this project was split into two phases; the rough artwork and coloring phase and the final artwork phase. The design went through arrangements and tweaks in order to give the mascot a more fresh and casual look, taking into account that 'Venenito' lives in a cosmopolitan and urban city as London is.
Since VENenIn social media covers a variety of topics, we made the character in different poses to make it suitable for the given topic.
Venenito's first concepts wearing traditional clothing from the Venezuelan Andes. His clothes were then changed for a more urban style, with the addition of using Venezuela's national football team 'La Vinotinto' cap (which the letter 'V' was changed with the VENenIN).
The wine color is part of La Vinotinto's soccer uniform, as well as the colour is a form that represents both the passion of the Venezuelan for its team, as well as an identity in general.
